I believe I need to start this story by saying that I have issues with water. In the right setting, like at the beach, I love water so much. But when water splashes out of the sink or shower, see ya! I must be totally dry before I get out of the shower, not a single drip can be left on my body and my hair (which is now two inches shorter!) must be tightly wrapped in a towel. I prefer to have my hair dry before putting on clothes - especially in the winter, wool sweaters and wet hair makes my skin crawl! Even if it's damp and I put on a wool sweater I feel so gross! The wet hair gets some leeway in the summer and I don't mind it as much but overall, water/wetness and I have some problems.
So I went to the salon to get my hair done last night, overall it's a lovely experience. Good conversation, and someone playing with my hair - I love both of those things. But then we get to the part of washing my hair. This is where I get really conflicted because on one hand, I love getting my hair washed, it feels so good! On the other hand, the little bowl you put your head over causes me some stress. I don't know if I have a short neck or perhaps when I lean back for the bowl approach I don't do it right but somehow I do not feel comfortable with my position. And it's not like my neck hurts, I am uncomfortable because I always end up in the position where I know water is going to run down my neck and back and touch my clothes. I'm sure my hair person thinks I'm super uncooperative because when she tries to lift my head to shampoo and rinse the bottom of my hair line I resist it because I know what's coming - the water drip! The positive part is that before she has me sit up, she thoroughly dries out inside my ears to prohibit any water drips from running down my face. Some may think it's in invasive gesture, but I am so appreciative! She also is really good about placing a fresh towel around my neck before she starts cutting my hair - that abruptly ends the water drip stress at the salon and I can enjoy the cutting and styling.
My next hair issue to overcome: how to wear headbands so that they don't squeeze my head and cause me such pain! They're so cute but the space behind my ears end up sore for days!
