Additonal 'The Lake' Thought

I wonder what people in Minnesota say about going to the lake. Surely, they have to use the awkward sentence and clarify which lake they're going to up front, right? I mean, in the land of 10,000 lakes that's way too many to play the "Which lake?" conversation. When they describe where it's located I wonder if they use adjacent lakes in their directions too? Interesting...
