I think it's so funny that in the summer when one plans on taking a trip to some nearby lake everyone just says, "I'm going to the lake". This statement is fine on it's own if one is fortunate enough to have their own lake home that they regularly attend in the summer. But if you're like me and are just blessed with friends who have parents that are fortunate enough to have a lake home, there is always the follow up question: "Which lake?"
Despite being asked the follow up question many times, I continue to just say "I'm going to the lake this weekend." Perhaps I enjoy the follow up question...I usually always know it's coming. Wouldn't it just have been easier to say "I'm going to Apple Valley lake this weekend." No, that just sounds awkward. Like I'm trying too hard or something, right? I'm going to stand my ground and keep it simple, "I'm going to the lake." But what if people don't ask the follow up question? Surely they're dying inside to know which lake! Or jealous that they're not going to the lake. Most likely, it's that the world, in fact, doesn't revolve around me and it's really not that big of a deal. I guess.
So yes, I am going to the lake this weekend. Oh, what's that? What lake, you ask? I'm going to Apple Valley Lake. Where's that located? Just north east of Columbus, thanks for asking! It's going to be a great time!
